Well here we are at the back end of another weekend. We have had another hot day here in the UK following some massive thunderstorms last night, you know the sort that just keep on rumbling around the sky. It was really nice to watch and it certainly brought a fresher feel to the air. They have issued a hot weather warning (quite bizarre but true) for next week. This afternoon we all went to see the latest Transformer movie which was great with action and special effects to match the first movie – well worth a look.

Now it’s back to work.

The problem with Aweber has still not been resolved (by me) you can read about it here http://bit.ly/DTcbn . But the main issue is not with the standard use of Aweber more with one of the ‘useful’ features namely email parsing. You can use the email parser to sign up members to your list by sending an email to Aweber. This is then parsed using some rules you set up to extract the name and email address of your sign up. The system then sends out the confirmation email to the prospect containing a link for them to click on to confirm their request. Simple stuff which I am sure you all have seen before. The trouble is that the confirmation emails are not getting through to the prospect unless their email address is with one of the major ISP’s (yahoo, msn, gmail etc). You may recall that Aweber told me (eventually) that an email address from my own domain (ricsale(at)nofussinternetbusiness.com) is very likely to fail because it will not be looked upon as being from a trustworthy source and be rejected.

I reworked my system to use a gmail account so the contact details were sent in an email and copied to the Aweber parser. But guess what it still didn’t work!

I was tempted to give up (not like me) because I can’t face another string of conversations with Aweber Help. But I also sat down and thought the problem through again and the more I looked at it I realised that either I was misunderstanding something big time or I had been given some duff information by Aweber last week.

They are telling me that the confirmation emails are getting rejected because they originally came from the email server linked to my domain rather than that of a major ISP.

Well this has to be complete bull because I send out and receive loads of emails every day to/from my nofussinternetbusiness.com email server without any problems. And my clients also use the email server on their hosting just like many small businesses do.

Why should an email from Aweber on behalf of nofusssinternetbusiness.com which is going to another small hosting email server say ricsale(at)the-silent-salesman.com be rejected? It just does not make sense.

So I am trying to think of a suitable test I can run which proves it is something to to with the email parser and not the ISP’s. I am determined to get to the bottom of this but it is costing a lot of my time and effort.

Perhaps it is time to set up my own system.

Back on the theme of Articles and how powerful they are. I have been looking back at the success of some of my old articles. I have found some from 2007 which have over 1000 references on Google, each being a link back to my site. They are also still pulling in traffic of 2-3 visitors to my site each day!. Not bad because the quality of the articles were not that good in those days. I tended just to write about stuff without any real thought other than a keyword phrase or two.

So I thought it would be good to see how quickly we can generate some traffic from a set of articles starting from scratch. I plan to write 2-3 articles about search engine promotion and direct them to my http://www.The-Silent-Salesman.com site which could do with a bit of promotion at the moment. I will then look at how quickly they spread around the internet and generate good back links to my site. I will also be able to show you how I use Google to track and notify me of the progress of my articles.
