I hope your weekend has gone well. We have just got back from London where my youngest had to take his Grade 2 drum exam. Quite an ordeal for him because not only was his drum tutor there but also some of his friends (who are also learning drums). My lad was last on so it was a bit of a battle to keep the nerves hidden and maintain the cool exterior. But he did it OK and appeared play all his pieces with only a few minor errors. We have to wait a couple of weeks to find out the result.
I have just about got over the BT email fiasco (don’t worry I am not going to rant on again). Last Thursdays newsletter was titled ‘BT and Ultimate Customer Dissatisfaction’ and as normal my system automatically sent out a Tweet on my Twitter account with the newsletter title in the Tweet. To my surprise I got a Tweet reply from BTcare! “Glad you got it sorted in the end, we’re on Twitter if you have any other problems with your BT account get in touch.” I’ll remember that next time.:)
I have been busy writing articles and content for my blogs. There is a lot of evidence that whilst articles are still a great way of getting traffic (I have one article that I published in 2007 that still brings in 5 visitors/week) the number of backlinks from multiple submissions of the same article has dropped. So the old technique of getting many backlinks by writing a single article and submitting it to all the article directory sites does not work as well. In recent times I have just submitted my articles to ezinearticles.com and then just waited for people to reprint the article on their website or blog to generate additional backlinks. But I have done nothing to really test this.
So I have recently submitted two articles to ezinearticles.com with a tracking code in links so that I can see via Google Analytics how much traffic they generate. I also have Google alerts running so that I can see where they get reprinted on the web. So the plan is to see what I get from these two articles. Then I will submit a similar (but not the same) pair of articles to multiple directory sites using something like articlemarketer.com and compare the results. Currently I am waiting for Ezinearticles to process my submission now 6 days!
I have also started to trial a different service from Daniel Turner & Marc Lindsay of PLRPro fame called Article Marketing Automation (AMA). The system allows you to publish unique versions of your article to individual blogs throughout a network of high page rank blogs. So in theory you should end up with multiple backlinks each from a piece of unique content on a different domain. Which is exactly what we want.
I have written two articles and submitted them to the AMA system. This process takes a little longer because you have to write alternative phrases/paragraphs so that the system can spin the unique versions of your article. I will do a video of this sometime if you want. So it takes a little longer, it took me 2 hrs to write each article, but you end up with lots of variants to use elsewhere if you so desire. I have spun versions that have been used on my hubpages and squidoo sites.
So I have 2 articles going through the process with AMA which will drip-feed them on a daily basis. I have tracking codes in place and have set up Google alerts so that I can track progress.
I have written a post about AMA on my the-silent-salesman blog which you can see here http://www.the-silent-salesman.com/website-promotion-tools/niche-article-marketing-for-high-search-engine-ranking
Or if you want to check out the AMA system yourself then just go to http://www.nofussinternetbusiness.com/ama .
But I will keep you posted on the outcome.
