Welcome from a rather damp UK. We have just got back from a day out at The Festival of History 2009. This is a fantastic event run by British Heritage each year which allows visitors to see live re-enactments of different historical periods ranging from Roman Infantry, the British Civil War and right through to WWII Tank Attack.

Now some of you may recall that we home school our children so we always keen to expose them to things where they can experience more than just the normal text book view. Certainly with history in the UK the education system tends to focus on small but specific periods in history and then do them to death. Most school kids get really turned off by history because they are so used to only being taught boring stuff that happened years ago. But when you get to see these live re-enactments with all the trimmings (gun fire, horse cavalry and artillery) it certainly brings history to life but also shows you just what the equipment and conditions were like. Anyway a great day out- learned quite a lot and had a great time.

But now to business and Website Promotion

My The-Silent-Salesman.com website is starting to ‘bubble up’ the search engines as the website promotion techniques kick in. We are about #18 (page 2) for the term Promote My Website On Line out of some 49,500,000 competing pages. The Squidoo lens now appears at #8 for the same term. So this is quite impressive when we realise that we only started a few weeks ago.

So lets recap

I now have 30 unique articles spun from 2 originals on the AMA system http://www.nofussinternetbusiness.com/ama . This is potentially 90 links back to my the-silent-salesman.com blog with varying link text. The articles are getting picked up by Google and indexed.

I have 1 article published promoting this site on ezinearticles which went live last Thursday. This has been picked up and indexed by Google already but it is nowhere in the top 40 for any relevant keyword phrases yet.

I have a video on YouTube which I use on the lead capture page and this shows up in the search results for some phrases.

Learning Point

The Squidoo lens is a really strong and quick way to promote your websites. Because of the way Squidoo is structured each new lens is effectively a page on a huge authority website! Which is just what we want. So we stand a better chance of ranking for Squidoo pages than we do for new websites.

Where Next

Well I have decided to use some of the linking strategies described in Neil Shearings ‘Top Linking Secrets’ http://www.nofussinternetbusiness.com/linkbuild but this time I am going to promote my Squidoo lens and the article on ezinearticles. The basic reasoning is that I should be able to get a higher ranking for the Squidoo lens than my blog initially and as the lens points to the-silent-salesman.com blog it can only help.

I also want to see how easy it is to get my article to rank for the chosen keyword. So if I add some good backlinks to it hopefully it will start to climb up the rankings.

So if all this works I could end up with at least 3 entries on page 1 for my keyword phrase!

I am also in the process of writing a new spinable article for the AMA system but this time the links will point to my Squidoo lens and the main ezinearticles article.

I hope you can see that this is quite a powerful promotion strategy that we should be able to repeat for any website (I can feel an eBook coming on:) )
